On her first solo engagement since receiving the title, Princess of Wales,
Kate Middleton visited the maternity ward at the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford, meeting mothers, infants, and staff.
The princess learned about the comprehensive support that the ward offers to expectant moms and new mothers during her visit.
Additionally, she visited the hospital’s special care baby unit, which offers specialized newborn care for small and premature babies, and got to know a family that was assisted in developing a link with their child.
The Princess of Wales, who serves as the Maternal Mental Health Alliance’s patron, also met with hospital staff members in charge of treating the prenatal and postnatal mental health of new mothers.
