The Prince and Princess of Wales are in Boston, Mass., this week for the 2nd annual Earthshot Prize ceremony on Friday.
The royal couple arrived Wednesday and attended an event at City Hall before heading to TD Garden for a Celtics game against the Miami Heat.
Photos shared by the office of Boston Mayor Michelle Wu show the pair’s visit to City Hall. William and Kate greeted attendees and spoke in City Hall Plaza alongside Wu and Governor-elect Maura Healey.
“Catherine and I are delighted to be back in the United States and are extremely grateful to Governor Baker and The First Lady of Massachusetts for their warm welcome to Boston,” Prince William said in a statement Wednesday.
Prince William unveiled the 15 Earthshot finalists earlier this month, and five winners will be announced Friday in a ceremony at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway.
Inspired by U.S. President John F. Kennedys Moonshot, the Earthshot Prize is awarded for innovative solutions for saving the planet. A winner will be selected for each of five Earthshot categories, including cleaning air, reviving oceans, restoring nature, fixing the climate and creating a waste-free world.
