UK Considers Additional Royal Stand-Ins For King Charles

Five royals known as “counselors of state” are allowed to stand in for the British monarch during official duties, but that list may soon be expanded.
The five counselors are currently the monarchs spouse and the next four in the line of succession, according to the U.K.s Regency Act.
Under King Charles, that list includes Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, who moved to the United States amid strife between his wife, Meghan Markle, and the royal family.
Some lawmakers have also questioned whether the disgraced Prince Andrew, Duke of York, should be included as he no longer carries out royal duties.
An expansion of the Regency Act could see the inclusion of other working royals, such as Princess Anne and Prince Edward, both children of Queen Elizabeth.
