The Prince and Princess of Wales are in Boston, Mass., this week for the 2nd annual Earthshot Prize ceremony on Friday, Dec. 2.
The royal couple arrived Wednesday and attended an event at City Hall before heading to TD Garden for a Celtics game against the Miami Heat. Photos shared by Tyler Washburn show crowds outside City Hall waiting to see the royals.
“Catherine and I are delighted to be back in the United States and are extremely grateful to Governor Baker and The First Lady of Massachusetts for their warm welcome to Boston,” Prince William said in a statement Wednesday.
Prince William unveiled the 15 Earthshot finalists earlier this month, and five winners will be announced Friday in a ceremony at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway.
Inspired by U.S. President John F. Kennedys Moonshot, the Earthshot Prize is awarded for innovative solutions for saving the planet. A winner will be selected for each of five Earthshot categories, including cleaning air, reviving oceans, restoring nature, fixing the climate and creating a waste-free world.
While in Boston, Prince William will visit the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum with Ambassador Caroline Kennedy. Kate is scheduled to visit the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University.
