The late Princess Diana’s Ford Escort RS Turbo Series 1 sold for £724,500 ($851,070) during an auction on Saturday at Britain’s Silverstone race track.

The princess put 6,800 miles on the automobile before returning it to Ford, and she was frequently spotted driving it about Chelsea and Kensington.

The royal family police guard requested that Diana’s RS Turbo Series 1 be painted black for discretion, according to the auctioneers, even though the car was typically built in white.

This week marks 25 years since Princess Diana died in a Paris tunnel crash involving the car she was riding in as paparazzi on motorcycles chased after it.
